“Do not watch the petals fall from the rose with sadness, know that, like life things sometimes must fade before they can bloom again” ~Anonymous When I read the above quote it struck a chord, not only is it a reminder that there is more beyond this earthly realm, a journey we must continue. But it also made me think about the incredible legacy that Rose has left behind. It’s been said that the power of a person’s life is in the stories they leave behind. And Rose left many, you only have to mention “Nanny Rose” to Jordon, Devontai or… Read more »

Rose was an incredible, warm, loving woman who was so kind to me and made me feel so welcome and like a local when I was still so new to London.
I will miss bumping into her every now and again. I will miss her smile, her warm hug, and caring nature. She was always ready to russle up some very delicious grub for all to enjoy.
It was a True honour to have known her and she was beloved by many.
I pray God to give her beloved family the fortitude to bear the loss. In Jesus Name. Amen.

I am still processing the fact that you are no longer with us Rose. We have known each other since the mid-60s when we met at Catford County Girls’ school.
You have always been so generous On every way. I loved your cooking. Who is going to tell me about the independence services?
We had a fantastic time on the CFJ trip to Jamaica in 2008 – a very well organised trip.
It has been an honour knowing you. Rest in eternal peace Rose.

There could be no name more fitting than Rose because of your shear beauty outside and within, the love you eminate d to all you encountered and the aroma you gave in every room you entered. You were an inspiration to me and so many in your eagerness to share your knowledge and experience of all things Jamaican (especially the curry goat and macncheese) I have learnt so much from you. This Garden of life will never be the same without you blooming love, joy, happiness and peace year after year, but you have fought the good fight, finished the race,… Read more »

Dear Rose, You were such an inspiration to me, I loved so many things about you, Your mannerisms and your charm, your distinctive voice. Rose you carried yourself with such elegance and grace and you stood tall with the beauty that matched the flower after which you were named. Rose you were a dear friend who nurtured my love for my Jamaican roots and culture, encouraging many performances in programmes or shows that you were somehow affiliated with. When I think of Louise Bennett (Miss Lou) I think of you and I performing “The Street Pedlar” and how you explained… Read more »
